Round 1 Wrap
April 22, 2026
Dear Roys
What a fantastic opening round to season 2026! I’m sure everyone had a great time out and about, watching Roys charge toward goal in the beautiful Autumn sunshine.
So, on to Round 2!
Our first club social event of 2026 – The 5th Quarter
We kick off our 2026 FJFC social calendar this Sunday night!
What: Our first 5th Quarter event of the year – a chance for the FJFC community (players, families, coaches, volunteers and supporters) to come together and socialise, have fun and get excited for the season ahead! Food and drinks (soft and alcoholic – we have a new liquor licence for club events) will be available for purchase.
When: 6pm Sunday 26 April
Location: Brunswick St Oval Community Room
The 5th Quarter is your chance to celebrate everything that makes the Fitzroy Junior Football Club special – we can’t wait to see you there!
If you’re keen to get your social on earlier in the weekend, the Fitzroy Football Club are playing matches at BSO on Saturday, with our FJFC U8s playing a mini-game at half time in the main Seniors match! The Seniors game will be followed by a twilight match featuring the FFC U19s which commences at 4:45pm. If you’re in the mood for Saturday footy as a warm-up to our games on Sunday, please head on down to BSO and cheer them on – bring your footy gear and join the guard of honour for the U19s as they run out onto the ground!
The 2026 Toyota Good for Footy Raffle
The Toyota Good for Footy Raffle is now open for 2026! Last year, our club raised $11K from this major fundraising effort – let’s see if we can beat that total this year!
Tickets are once again $5 and 100% of proceeds go to FJFC to support equipment purchases, coaching and player development.
We’re setting every team the target of selling $350 of tickets (that’s only 70 tickets!) with the first team to reach the target (and the highest total overall) awarded vouchers from the Clifton Hill Hotel to go towards a team function during the season.
Every single ticket purchased helps the club.
Your TM will shortly share your team’s unique link via your WhatsApp group to purchase tickets. If you’re able to help, please buy a ticket and share the link with family and friends.
Thank you for supporting the Roys!
Free SALT Positive Sports Parenting Course
The club has been provided FREE access to the acclaimed Sport and Life Training (SALT) Positive Parenting course. The course is designed to help our parents support their child’s development through sport, focusing on character, values, and positive encouragement. It’s self-paced and can be completed in around 30 minutes.
I encourage everyone to make this investment in their child’s junior sport journey. I’ve done the course for each of the last three years and get something out of it every time!
To access the course please click here and use our unique club code YJFLFIT26 to access the course.
As an added incentive in 2026, the club with the highest level of engagement will have the opportunity to nominate up to 10 children to participate in a Guard of Honour prior to the Collingwood v Port Adelaide AFL match at the MCG on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
More details on the course are available here: Salt Positive Sports Parenting.
That’s it from me for now – I look forward to seeing you all around the grounds on Sunday and of course at the 5th Quarter on Sunday night.
Go Roys!
Bridget
