Girls’ Round and Roys Recovery

July 28, 2023

The Girls’ Round celebrates the growing participation of girls in junior footy at FJFC. Community members can show their support of girls and women by attending one of our girls’ games in Round 12 on 30th July 2023.

The purpose of a designated Girls’ Round is to increase the visibility of our growing number of girls’ teams.  Most of our nine girls’ teams will play at our home grounds on the day and people will have the opportunity to see them play games back-to-back.

Our platinum sponsor, Bendigo Community Bank Clifton Hill-North Fitzroy will give a short presentation at Ramsden Street Oval, Clifton Hill at 2.20pm between the U13G and U14G games on 30th July 2023.  In this regard, the Bank is a key sponsor of girls’ footy at FJFC and our community and we look forward to acknowledging the importance of our community partnership.

Games will be followed by a celebration of girls footy at Roys’ Recovery at the Fitzroy Bowls Club from 5pm onwards on Sunday 30th July 2023.  This gathering will provide the opportunity for informal social and community connection.  Food and beverages can be purchased at the bar and players, families and guests can enjoy the social atmosphere of FJFC in the heart of the Fitzroy community.

There will be a short presentation by our Community Partner, Bendigo Community Bank Clifton Hill – North Fitzroy – a major supporter of girls’ footy at FJFC.  There will also be a facilitated discussion with special guest female players from both the AFLW, Fitzroy Football Club (FFC) (Seniors) and other key people involved in girls footy at FJFC.

We encourage all members of FJFC to come along and celebrate the Club’s ongoing commitment to the development girls’ footy.  We also extend this invitation to other members of our community who share an interest in the participation of girls and women in sport.
