FJFC Start of Season 2025

April 2, 2025

Dear Roys families

Just two more sleeps to the start of the season!

With round 1 this Sunday, here are a few key messages to set us up for a great season.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY

In 2025, I want everyone to be proud of our club.

For parents, proud of the way we support our kids to play footy.

For kids, proud of the way we play our footy, with respect for ourselves, our teammates and parent volunteers, the umpires and opposition.

For the club as a whole, have fun, remember this is junior footy, it’s a fabulous way to spend a Sunday so enjoy it. Parents, if you’re not enjoying it, let me know.

If you kids are not enjoying their footy, please speak to your Team Manger, your coach or me.

It is incumbent on us all to create and maintain a safe environment for our kids to play footy.

On game day,  any questions or concerns should be directed to your Team Manager. They will speak to the other Team Manager to resolve issues on the day.

Please do not engage with opposition players, officials or the umpires.

Finally, there are 33 clubs, over 400 teams and over 10,000 players in the league.

Please do not contact the league directly with questions, concerns or complaints.

Please speak to your Team Manager and if the issue is not resolved, please email the club at [email protected]

POSITIVE PARENTING COURSE

The league is rolling out a free online program to maximise your child’s experience playing junior sport.

I can personally vouch for the program having done it last year – it takes less than an hour to complete.

We will circulate the login arrangements next week and I am encouraging all parents to complete the course over the school holidays – it’s your holiday homework from me – and it will set you up for a great season!

THE 5TH QUARTER

Our first all-club social gathering for the season – The Fifth Quarter (formerly known as Roys Recovery)  will be held from 6pm, Sunday 6 April at the Fitzroy-Victoria Bowls Club (right next to the Brunswick Street Oval).

Come and celebrate junior footy and school holidays with team mates and club mates across our 28 teams.

STOP PRESS – We are delighted to announce special guest  Josh Ward (current Hawthorn and ex-FJFC player) will join us Sunday night – don’t miss it!

Go Roys!

Bridget
