FJFC Club Update 15 May 2025
May 14, 2025
Dear Roys,
It’s hard to believe we are already four weeks into the season!
With grading rounds complete for our U11s and older teams, some key messages for the next few weeks:
GRADING AND THE REST OF THE SEASON
The club takes a holistic, club-wide approach, the aim of which (consistent with the league) is to place our teams in divisions where they will be competitive – not all teams will play finals.
We aim to challenge our kids to be competitive at the correct grade for their development.
We will monitor results over the next couple of weeks and when we have strong grounds to request the league regrade a specific team, we will absolutely make the case.
The fixture for round 5 and round 6 will be released weekly. Following round 6, we will receive the fixture for the remainder of the season.
Please note, we do not play King’s Birthday weekend, but we do play the final weekend of the July school holidays (20 July).
TOYOTA GOOD FOR FOOTY RAFFLE
The raffle is the major fundraiser for the year. Every dollar we raise goes back to the club and there are fabulous prizes to be won. Please respond early and often when your team manager asks you to buy some tickets.
Send your individual team link to your friends and family and get them to help your team be the first to reach the team total of $350 and/or be the highest fundraising team in the club – prizes for both!
POSITIVE PARENTING COURSE – FREE ACCESS FINISHES 31 MAY
Our free access to this fabulous course finishes on 31 May. It provides some excellent insights into supporting your child’s junior sport journey. In addition, the league will provide a signed Collingwood jumper to the club with the highest completion rate (weighted against registered players).
We’re currently second on the ladder behind Ivanhoe so let’s go Roys!
You can access the course here. Our unique club code for free access is YJFL-FIT25-2
THE 5TH QUARTER
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the 5th Quarter fundraiser for the Toelupe family on 4 May.
Thanks to your generosity, the event raised $3,444 and the family drew so much on the support of their community.
Our next 5th Quarter event will be held on 25 May and will celebrate Joe Johnson indigenous Round. More details are to come next week.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT THE CLUB
Thank you to all families for your ongoing support. Your dedication is the heart of our club. If you can, we’d love your help with fundraising efforts that will fuel our season:
Our Scholarship Program tackles financial barriers, so more young people can play footy at Fitzroy. We cover the cost of player registration and gear for families experiencing financial hardship and supported 11 players in 2024. Your tax-deductible donation helps us extend this important program.
Donations to our Football Operations program help cover costs of sporting equipment and facilities used by our junior footballers, umpires and volunteers. Businesses or individuals can make tax-deductible donations.
Choose FJFC when you recycle bottles and cans through the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme. You can direct the 10-cent refund for each eligible container to FJFC, using either CDS Vic North or CDS Vic West refund locations.
Every contribution helps! Find out more.
Go Roys!
