As we draw towards the end of another wonderful season at Fitzroy JFC, it’s time to take a moment to recognise the people who make it possible for our kids to play the game they love each week.
Please find supporting information related to four key awards at FJFC for club people, club champions, coaches and volunteers.

FJFC COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD (Dick Terrens Award)

This award recognises outstanding contribution to coaching at FJFC, and the demonstration of coach demonstrates the FJFC Coaches Values of “Teamwork, Respect & Mentoring”.
The award is named after Dick Terrens, who began his journey at FJFC in 2006 coaching his sons, Riley and Owen. Dick never stopped being involved in other areas of the Club, mentoring other newer coaches joining the Club, culminating in Riley’s final year when Dick was Colts Coaching Coordinator.
There would be many coaches during this time at FJFC who would model their coaching style on Dick’s. Dick was also instrumental in being at the forefront of FJFC’s football development as one of the key members to implement and shape what we all know today as the Coaching Development Committee.
Dick sadly passed away on Saturday morning, 29 August 2020. Dick was struck by a car while riding his bike near his home in Eganstown, and tragically died at the scene. Dick is survived by his wife Karen and sons Riley and Owen.
Criteria: Nominees for this award must demonstrate the highest of character, and always place development and fun ahead of winning.
- To be awarded to a coach who has demonstrated sustained exemplary coaching for at least 3 seasons and upheld the FJFC Coaches values of “Teamwork, Respect & Mentoring”.
- The candidates must demonstrate the highest of character, and always place development and fun ahead of winning.
- All members (Players/Parents/Carers) are able to nominate a coach.
- The submissions will be adjudicated by the FJFC Coaching Director, President and Coach Development Committee.
