Cubby House Challenge 2017
March 20, 2017
FJFC Platinum Sponsor Jellis Craig Northcote is proud to again participate in the Kids Under Cover Cubby House Challenge. Now in its 9th year, the Cubby House Challenge is set to raise the bar again in collecting much-needed funds for the prevention of youth homelessness.
The Cubby House Challenge will test some of Australia’s most renowned architects and builders to create Australia’s best Cubby House. Awards will be given for Australia’s Best Cubby, Melbourne’s Best Cubby, Best Architectural Cubby, Best Interior Design Cubby, Most Imaginative Cubby and Kid’s Choice.
Once the judging is finished the cubbies will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Last year the highest sale price achieved was more the $17,000 for a single cubby. Jellis Craig Auctioneer Sam Rigopoulos will be sending ‘MySpace’ under the hammer, a cubby designed by Grimshaw Architects and built by Warrick Home Builders.
MySpace was inspired by the notion of ‘creative play’. Kids have the ability to adapt their own spaces by manipulating various sized blocks like a big Lego set. How they enter the space and arrange the interior is up to them! The blocks have multiple uses to reinforce a sense of ownership and flexibility. The shapes can be used to fill voids or provide opens, they can be used for furniture, storing trinkets, growing plants, inviting birds to nest, drawing on, and more.
You can view or bid on the cubbies at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, held within the Carlton Gardens & Royal Exhibition Building from Wednesday 29th March – Sunday 2nd April.
