Hello again Roys families,
And just like that, season 2025 is a wrap! On behalf of the committee, a huge congratulations to our players and our parent and family volunteers for a wonderful season, which culminated in the fabulous presentation day last Sunday.
It’s the end of year award season…
We congratulate the following players who were on the podium for the league best and fairest:
- Jericho Apaitia-Vague, 3rd, Youth Boys 1
- Viggo Sandberg, 3rd, Youth Boys 3
- Luca Dryden, 2nd, U16.1 Boys
- Bella Novello, 2nd, U16.2 Girls
- Heidi Burgess, 3rd, U16.2 Girls
- Philippa Rose, 2nd, U14.2 Girls
- Francie O’Shea, 3rd, U12 Girls
We also congratulate Meg Orr and Issy Kounadis who were named in the YJFL’s Youth Girls team of the year and Jericho Apaitia-Vague and Finbar Kennedy who were named in the Youth Boys team of the year and Matt Drew who was, for the second year running, named as coach of the year for the Youth Boys team.
We are proud to recognise the following award winners who made significant contributions to our club’s success this season:
Club Person of the Year… Anna Murphy and Daniel Quin
Dick Terrens Coach of the Year… Nick Parr, U16B-1
James Doughney Club Champion… Jada Stapleton and Jono Watt
Volunteer recognition awards… Adrian Amiconi, Kristen Douglas, Terina Reilly and Jess Scott
We love seeing individuals recognised, but our greatest measure of success as a club is the players (and volunteers) who return each year to be part of a team and the camaraderie, belonging and sense of community this builds.

Tackling financial barriers
FJFC is committed to removing barriers to playing footy and offers scholarships for players and families experiencing financial hardship. This covers the cost of gear and registration, and all recipients are confidential. If you know someone who would benefit, please contact me or any of our Committee Members directly.
Please thank our Partners and support them where you can
Our club’s success is bolstered by the generous support of our partners. I’m extremely grateful to all of them:
Jellis Craig Inner North. A long-time sponsor of our Club, Jellis Craig Inner North (Fitzroy/Northcote/Reservoir) strengthens our partnership by giving us $500 of their sales commission when FJFC members, families or friends choose Jellis Craig. If you’re selling a home, please contact David Sanguinedo at Jellis Craig Inner North and mention FJFC.
Community Bank Clifton Hill-Fitzroy North (Bendigo Bank). We’re extremely fortunate to have secured the Community Bank – located at 101 Queens Parade – as a major sponsor for many years. Our club banks with Community Bank and we encourage all our members and families to consider banking with them too. If you or your family do choose to use Community Bank please remember to mention FJFC.
Clifton Hill Brew Pub is a family-run, independent pub on Queens Parade. They give all of our 28 teams bistro vouchers, and generously host our team dinners and Life Members Dinner. They provide the quality hospitality we need to connect and honour all the volunteer efforts in our great Club!
Central Apartment Group has 25 locations nationwide, and accommodation to suit everyone. They are generous supporters of our club, donating travel vouchers to our online silent auction including a luxury getaway at their 1770 resort in Queensland!
Piccolina Gelateria. After another big season, we all deserve some ice cream! In addition to hundreds of vouchers already given to our players, before the end of October parents can email [email protected] with the subject “Complimentary Gelato” to receive a little something for all the early mornings and volunteer jobs. Visit their Collingwood shop at 296 Smith St.
Zambrero Brunswick is a feel good Mexican restaurant, serving Mexican food differently. Zambrero Brunswick provided us with hundreds of vouchers in season 2025 to reward players across our 28 teams. To return the favour, visit them at Barkly Square Shopping Centre.
Fitzroy-Victoria Bowling Club is another long-term partner, who successfully hosted our social 5th quarter events, team presentations, and SALT sessions.
Grill’d Collingwood is our newest Club partner, located at 230 Smith Street. Our partnership with Grill’d Collingwood is off to a flying start and we hope to collaborate even more closely with them in season 2026.

Thank you once again for being a valued part of our footy family and we hope to see you back at Fitzroy for season 2026. We are excited about the future, and we can’t wait to share the journey with you. In the meantime, a safe and happy off-season to all.
