Round 6 vs Ashburton Rovers at Ramsden St Sunday 23 May

Fitzroy 6.11-47 defeated Ashburton 3.1-19

A calm and sunny day at Ramsden St saw our team bounce back from last week’s defeat to post another solid win. The match was played in perfect conditions and once again our taller players excelled led by Alessio, Sam and Charlie who all played terrific games. Onballers Kobe, Darcy and Zac were dominant and supported well by Hodgey and the Hindsons. Alessio broke the game open with two wonderful snap goals in the third quarter and Ollie took two nicely timed marks and converted set shot goals to put the result in no doubt. Heading into the mid season break we are well positioned to make the finals, with plenty of room for improvement still to come.

Round 5 vs Glen Iris away Sunday 16 May

Glen Iris Newton 7.2-44 defeated Fitzroy 4.7-31

More to come

Round 4 vs Bulleen Templestowe at Ramsden St. Sunday May 9

Fitzroy 6.4-40 defeated Bulleen Templestowe 3.6-24

The first match at our home ground was a torrid affair. Windy conditions and a ferocious opposition made for a very tough match but to our boys credit they rose to the occasion. The entire team played disciplined hard footy with Daniel, Zac, Alessio, Sam, Charlie, Darcy, and new team mates Hamish Eadie and Will Cashen all tackling hard and taking hits. Misha and Dean played their best games this season, bravely defending our lead.Kobe’s goal to seal the win was a moment to remember. In the end it was an extremely hard fought win that highlighted there will be more difficult games ahead. To celebrate Mother’s Day the song was sung with Mums, Sisters, Grandmothers et al joining the boys in the circle. Special thanks to Tamara!

Round 3 vs Warrandyte at Brunswick St Oval Sunday May 2

Fitzroy 9.14-68 defeated Warrandyte 0.0-0

On a very warm May day the Roys were untroubled by the opposition and played to a very high standard. More to come…

Round 2 vs Ivanhoe at Ivanhoe Park Sunday April 25

Ivanhoe 3.4-22 lost to Fitzroy 11.7-73

Another perfect day for footy as Anzac Day was commemorated, both teams showing their respect by lining up for the last post and a minutes silence pre game. The boys got out of the blocks quickly and took control through some brilliant team work and excellent defence. Tom and Will both displayed their ability to find space and use the ball well, Darcy was as always hard at it and classy with Kobe using his strength to great affect. The Hoers fought back and made it a good contest but could not contain our now dominant talls, Sam, Charlie and Alessio. Zac ended up with leather poisoning although he must have some sort of immunity by now. Coach Al was a happy man, the team and the season now shaping up nicely.

Round 1 vs Heidelberg at Heidelberg Park Sunday 18 April

Heidelberg 1.1-7 lost to Fitzroy 10.6-66

An almost perfect start to the season saw the Roys play a strong four quarters with new players all making solid contributions in particular Sam Evans played a ripper game. Naz used his pace to great effect on the big ground, Zac and Alessio are still dominating games, Kobe had a big influence and Ollie provided the icing on the cake late in the game with a miraculous snap that went through post high. It was almost as good to see the off field team back together working seamlessly and all the usual faces supporting our team. A great day for the team and the club.
