One of the things that Sophie loves about playing footy is: “Being in such a large team. Being part of a group of twenty plus girls is very different to any other sport that girls play as it creates a real sense of belonging.”

The other aspect of the game that Sophie loves is the physical competitiveness.

She told me about the first time she marked a ball: “Her opponent stood on her foot which surprised her and made her look down. When she looked up again the ball landed in her hands”
